Welcome

I love to try new things and try to experience almost everything at least once. I'm on a daily adventure to search for beautiful things and find the beauty IN things. To live life. Build memories, laugh a lot, and to have compassion for fellow humans. I believe we create our life and that we can control who and what are lives are about. If you don't like something in your life, you have the power to change it. So here I go, on the road to making each day special as it truly is...

Project 64: Lavender

Lavender?  Really, I always thought Lavender was more purple?  I don't know that's just me.  I see pink.  But according to Crayola, here be Lavender.

Even though I took this picture last week while trying to focus on Indigo, there is a pedal in this flower that to me has Lavender in it, and I think I'm going to have to go with it and end it there.

I think this was my favorite photograph from last week -- a flowers given to me by my husband on Valentine's Day.  Love him.

Project 64: Indigo

So the major point of this project for me was to get up off my couch, get out of the house and live each day like its my last.  But for this week's project, I wanted to do some staging around the house and take some still life pictures with the color theme in mind.

This is a feather used for my hair at my wedding.  I took this in the bathroom with natural light in the background.  I tried this on a few other victums ....

And this -- my Titanic inspired necklace.

Although my journey kept me in the confines of my home this week,  its just another reminder that there is beauty all around us and often right in front of our noses.

And after all of this did I mention that I missed my deadline to get the shot in for the week, as Homer Simpson would say ...

Peace!

Project 64: Week 6 Apricot

Another hard one this week, finding color during the drab winter is truly a challenge, even in the desert.  Most people think just because we are in the desert that we don't experience the change in seasons.  But the truth is, this year New Mexico has gone through one of the coldest winters I've seen since I moved here 10 years ago.

So as I set out this week trying to find some time between work and zumba and all the other million things a woman does in a week, I snapped some more shots around the downtown area.

There are two things I love most about downtown -- one -- the tall buildings which remind me where I came from and the other -- the murals!  Here's just a taste of beauty you find around every corner ...

some close ups

But my favorite for this weeks submission I think are these

Project 64: Week 5 Grey

Whoo, this is a tough one.  I've search and squandered for this color around town.

I've taken a few pictures thus far but nothing is quite grabbing me which is the main point of taking on this project.

So what do most people in New Mexico capture on camera?  The sky.  Boring  most people would think but in capturing the true essence of this color and finding beauty as well, here's some pictures I was able to snap along the journey.

This is a pic of BBoy's feet while jamming with a friend one cold Monday night

My kit getting abused by yet another man

A building in downtown Albuquerque.  Kind of reminded me of the seams you would find on in a sneaker

Far away shot of the building.

A wall under the Big I.  Don't ask how I got this.  But still not quite the right shade of grey I am looking for ...

I couldn't resist posting this pic.  It was taken from my front stoop Friday at sunset.  Que Bella!

Okay -- Grey, right ...

Not a money maker shot by any means, but I like how you can see how close we really are to touching the sky

But my favorite by all means so far in keeping the spirit of the color of the week

So this is has been my journey thus far.  I will travel many roads and come across many people along the way.  It will be filled with danger, as I'd like to visit more of downtown ABQ, but will be rewarded with many stories.

Project 64: Week 4 Robin's Egg Blue

The inspiration behind this week's challenge is Robin's Egg Blue.

I snapped this shot of Woodie one morning in my kitchen.  The light was just right to pick up the colors in his eyes. I also like the angle makes -- small kitty look really Big!

The Pursuit of Happiness Project Photography: Project 64: Out of the Box

Okay, so one of the things I truly love to do is take pictures.  Its something I got from my Mom, she used to do some serious photography, no computer stuff, the real shit with the dark room, chemicals and all.

So one of the girls who I work with got me into is Flickr, and in particular some photo groups.  So I Joined the One entitled:  Project 64:  Out of the box.  its where they pick a color each week to inspire you to get off that couch and take some pictures capuring the essence of the color that week.  Its exciting and I'm already into it.
